Mr. P. T. Barnum on line 1.
June 13, 20178 yr Popular Post i had delivered 5 pallets of paver stones, currently working thru them, will finish pallet 2 later this week. guess i'm sitting on $50 or so of materials at the end of the week. rich, rich i tell you. truth be told, if some yuppie type came to me and said they wanted me to make something for them out of pallet wood, i'd likely make them a pallet. nice furniture deserves nice wood. same amount of time for me either way, may as well use quality lumber.
June 13, 20178 yr Popular Post I suppose the days of two cement blocks and a couple of 2X4s are gone forever.

Couple of years ago we got a new neighbor who built a bookcase from black pipe and 1x10s. He was in "temporary housing" and moved out a year later. I'm going to justify one of those pallet puller aparters and I'll have my investment back in 3 pallets. Edited June 13, 20178 yr by kmealy

Not as long as there are colleges, universities and students in attendance Besides, four concrete blocks @$1.00/ea + a couple 2x4x92 pre-cut studs @ $2.94/ea is still cheaper than buying a dis-assembled pallet.
June 14, 20178 yr Nearly 40 years ago when my daughters were babies, I brought home several pallets made of what appeared to be oak. I made a large crib for them, turning out 4 legs and 4 corner posts on a lathe, a stationery side and an adjustable side, both with ribs. I used a C grade plywood for the front and back end panels, and the bottom. I gave it away some time ago. The pallets were free then. hat

June 14, 20178 yr Popular Post My neighbor is a young man who loves to work with wood. Very intelligent, educated guy. He wanted me to accompany him to look at some wood advertised on Craigs list. He talked to the seller and got the asking price. He looked at me and asked what I thought. I looked at him and the seller and said," except for a few small pieces, it is all junk wood, but good for camp fires. The seller gave me an angry look, then reduced the price from $40 to $10. It was worth that, there was some Oak in it.

June 14, 20178 yr Author One of my customers had a little shop go in at the other end of the strip mall from them. From what I could tell, their specialty was warehouse carts as coffee tables. I, too, prefer something a bit more refined.

June 15, 20178 yr Well kiss a fat kangaroo rat on the lips-only $26.95 for pallet wood. Pallet wood once was a tree of some sort or another and now its pallet wood and because its from a pallet its no good. I have seen things made from pallets that didn't look like it came from a pallet and they were nice, now some things were made and they retained their pallet look and they had that look.? Preston
June 15, 20178 yr what's funny, and sad, to us that make things, is the rich yuppie type wants to have furniture made that looks like he just moved out of a homeless tent and hasn't had a chance to upgrade his furnishings. you can afford nice things, get them.

Along with a wire or cable spool from your local electric or cable company that was left on the side of the road, nice coffee tables! I remember in the 70's the big thing was to inlay cards and chips in those wood spools, looked like a game of poker.
