June 5, 20178 yr Popular Post I ran across a picture of this box my wife took to the craft fair last Nov. I don't even remember much about it for when it left here it was still not put together for the lacquer was still wet. Usually I sit and think what I should do to the next one I build for things can't be a repeat. Different color, different shape, anything, just so the next project is an improvement from the last. So I hung a picture of it in the shop as a reminder and that decided me do more easier things in the future. Just drawing this box up with the french curve set took many days of lines being erased and new lines added plus all the while the size of it was getting way too big for the scroll saw to handle... Kinda like a person should never go to the grocery store when they are hungry. Many small items later and as you are loading things in the car the receipt falls out and you realize, oh my, what have I done!!!! They don't make loans that big anymore!! Lots of my patterns I file away won't even fit in our small house......This thing went straight from my work bench, table saw extension, to the craft fair. Usually I nit pick things to death for a while before anymore before I take things out the door.. Its been raining the last few days so the reason I been going through some pictures and planing something!
June 5, 20178 yr Wow, that's just really fine. Love the heart shaped pulls. As Dan said, a lot of work. But, worth it.
June 5, 20178 yr WOW there is some real talent on this site.. I never could have even envisioned a piece like this. Never get tired of looking at it, I wouldn't have let it out of my house. Herb
June 5, 20178 yr Author Herb, she said I have a friend who just might buy that. I had my thoughts so okay, you can take it. But I don't have anything else to show here if someone comes looking for a present for some young thing and these things takes too long to whip one out and believe me the older a person gets the slower he tries to make his brain respond.....Actually I blame the slowing down to the fire dept days and those 20 cups of coffee a day I had to drink. Something I always thought was part of working as a firefighter?

I can appreciate the design effort and the workmanship involved in making that. I would have to be on something more than coffee to think up a neat design like that. Evry thing just goes together so perfectly. Herb Edited June 5, 20178 yr by Dadio
June 6, 20178 yr Beautiful piece Patch. I too appreciate the finish transitions. Obviously it never returned from the Craft Fair. I'm sure you do, but I hope you sign & date all of these works of art!
June 7, 20178 yr Author I appreciate the comments guys, really, but hey there is nothing there that any one of you could not do. The only thing special were the scroll saw and an oscillating spindle sander. I probably have more time to think up something than most of you . For sure when I had kids at home and bills to pay time was money back then.. Now, nothing to do but think!

Patch, I can think stuff all day & all night...the trick you've mastered is converting the thinking into the accomplished...A good dose of patience probably goes a long way too...my Rx always seems to run out early....
June 7, 20178 yr It's a stunning piece. Wow. Makes me want to junk my whole shop just looking at it. But never mind that: what'd it sell for?
June 7, 20178 yr Author Strange Pete for my wife never tells me what things sells for and actually I have found out not to ask for she seems to think, by golly now that I do think about it, I have no idea as to what she thinks??????? She did long ago ask what things should sell for and I said, way more than I would pay for such items!!!!!!!!!! Well I knew that, you tight wad _ _ _ HOLE. Being honest puts me in a bad situation, kinda like the congress people as they are acting like preschoolers.
