Good Monday Morning Folks!

What did you all get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead?

Feel free to describe everything and anything on your agenda and what happened in your shops and life over the weekend. Just consider this your weekly debrief and Monday Cheer Leading topic for the week ahead. What do you have going for the week ahead?

Nasty head cold resulting in diminished brain functioning kept me house bound the last 4 days. Tried cutting some fabric for drawer lining and that was a disaster. Decided to go to town and get some air chuck connectors. Why on earth are dozens of styles necessary? Finally found the ones I needed. I wanted 4. They come in blister packs of 3. Now, I have 2 extra. They'll go in the air tool drawer with the other mismatched connectors. Someday, someone's gonna open that drawer and wonder why.

Think I can get some shop time today. Might even get something done...if I can remember where I was 4 days ago.

Saturday morning we made our way to the annual Kiwanis pancake day for breakfast. Afterwards it was off the pick up a load of lumber.

I was told this was a load of Cherry. When I started unloading it was cedar. But as I went further I ran into some Cherry some oak and some maple. Then I hit the stacks in the middle and the were all Walnut. IMG_7499.JPG

I could get get it all on my trailer so I've got to go back for the rest of the walnut.

Sunday AE was just resting.

Over the weekend Tami and I grabbed some breakfast and then made the 4.5 hour drive to Yuma, AZ to see Tami's Mom and to pick up a full size Futon couch/bed that she no longer wanted which will go into our upstairs bonus room. The weather was very nice but way too many old people out there during the winter months clogging up the streets and parking lots. It looked like a bunch of geriatrics on spring break wearing t-shirts that were rather inappropriate that didn't quite cover the guys bulging guts or the ladies sagging chests all acting like teenagers. All the restaurants have 45-60 minute waits to get a table, Sam's Club had long lines on all the registers and at church on Sunday we had to sit in the back row because it was a full house of "Snow Birds". Oh well, Tami got to spend some good time with her Mom while I got to move stuff around the house and take 2 truck loads of some of her stuff she didn't want/need over to a guy's house from her church that was going to have a big yard sale in a couple of weeks.

On top of that Tami's Mom had to take her cat "Shadow" in to get groomed but they found that the cat's hair was so matted down deep that they had to shave her. Now we are calling the cat "Puss In Boots". That cat has never liked me and I don't like her either. But I have to say I have a lot of sympathy for that cantankerous critter.

I routed speaker wires from Stereo to rear surrounds thru the joists under floor and up the walls.

Had to drill big holes because one of the cables was the Ethernet line.

Still awaiting the crew to rebuild two basement walls and once that is done reorganize the shop and get all the machines working again.

She's not happy! Bet she really dislikes you now after you laughed at her.

Spent half the day Saturday with my brother.  Put a couple coats of shellac on the second batch of ornaments and Sunday applied two coats of wipe on poly.  Trim them out this week and done.

Had a great morning Saturday at the furniture bank.   We had 4 club members and six college students.   Between 9 and 1, we assembled 45 tables and fixed up a couple more.    Used up all the stock we had so next session will be cutting stock out.

Sunday PM more work on my granddaughter's dresser build -- sanding the outside of 9 drawers getting them ready to install as soon as lunch is over.   Also spent some time this morning tweaking the shop layout (swapping places between clamps and miter saw) and putting together a quick presentation for the WW club this Saturday.

IMG_1002.thumb.JPG.8db6540715fc62e5ab8bf71faa6891c8.JPGFinished the top and finale on a winged box. Finally used a piece of the ebony ( several different colors) I had hoarded to make that finale . Shot some lacquer on Beads of Courage bowls and pair of winged bowls. After church yesterday the wife and I went to lunch and a stage play "Red Velvet Cake Wars"

Saturday, went to a friend's place to see about a leak around her bathtub. Cut an inspection hole, and found that the short pipe from the tub/shower control down to the spout was totally perforated! Fixed that problem, checked everything out, and went home. Got a call around 7:00, she's almost in tears, her main shutoff valve is leaking badly. Back to her place, had to call the utilities people to shut off the water to the house. The valve is the original, a really weird design, so called a REAL plumber, who said he'd be there in the morning. True to his word, but $280 for 20 minutes work! PLUS $100 to turn the outside valve off and on again! I should have been a plumber!

Went to the garden center this morning to install a cabinet I had built to fit a gap between two cash registers. Wanted to put some kind of Arborite or whatever on the top, so I went to HD to check it out. Too expensive at $100 a sheet, so I went back to the store. needed a jackknife, reached into my pocket..... NOTHING! I had put on a fresh pair of jeans, and left the house with no wallet, no change, no pocket knife, no DRIVER'S LICENSE! Seniors' moment... brain fart!
