Good Monday Morning Patriot Woodworker's!

Here we go onward to another fantastic week of woodworking, life, living, and sharing and learning from our fellow woodworkers!

What have you all been up to over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead? Put it all out there, anything is game!

Rounding PlaneThe rounding plane (image left), or tenon cutter, will be a new tool in my shop. I have been diving into building chairs and stools that require a round tenon. Since my lathe turning is a tad rough these days, and I am having a hard time cutting a consistent and accurate 5/8" tenon, I went ahead and purchased a 5/8" rounding plane made by Ray Iles, the cost was reasonable for a hand made tool at $65.95 and well worth the price to get those great fitting tenons.

From the flyover zone named Indiana (where nobody cares who won Best Picture), may I welcome everyone to a brand new week.  This week, I'm finishing up two oak bookcases that will be delived Saturday.  Thursday, I have to bid a job to build shelving for a school corporation near here so I think I know what I'll be doing for the next three weeks.  How about y'all? Got any big plans?

I'm in the final stages of preparing the demo for our wood turning club meeting next Sunday. Doing a Glenn Lucas project, a "traditional Irish platter"  So far, I've made

probably about 8 or 10 of them. Today, I'm turning, rehearsing, and editing notes as I go. Will probably do two or three more between now and Sunday. The last couple I'll video tape. In speech class I would practice in front of a mirror, camera is a much harsher critic and a great tool.

Also working on a steady rest for my lathe, just about have it done but am waiting on wheels.

this week was supposed to start out with Bloody Mary's by the pool. but the rain and cool temps have put a damper on that. so now it's just Bloody Mary's while sitting inside looking at the pool.

We had a nice weekend here. It was in the 60's, no wind and sunshine, man it was nice. Some of our security team went out to get in some shooting.

The target stands I build held up well to the shooting. I think I was the first one that actually hit the wood with a speed drill we were doing.

So this week starts my show season and I am working on Inventory. Today I am milling up some Cherry, Walnut and Maple for cheese boards. I be working on several other projects as the week progresses. Just have to be finished with them all by Friday.

Well my break has been long enough, it is out to the planer and back to work!

pretty generous hit zone.  i'm used to shooting IDPA targets, hit zone on the body is a 8 inch circle, hit zone on the head is a 4 inch circle.

Those are the only type we are allowed too, up to 12", no half body targets.

The Instructor is a NRA instructor and he brought the NRA targets. I just shot what they put up.

Hey That was "Patton" right?:P;)

Will be putting oil on the Bishopwood bowl and try making some Kururin toys.

looks interesting. I might have to try a few of these

I have a toothpick holder that I have to get finished tonight and tomorrow. No pics yet, but as it progresses I'll get some. John, it looks like all had fun at the range. I would have loved to have been there.
