February 4, 20179 yr Popular Post Sorry for starting another post, system won't let me post pics on original post, yes it is a curved stair stringer (you guys are good) got it cut out today, and clamped back to the form until I'm ready to install it. A few pics of the bowed risers that will tie into it. Pulled my drawing up on the Autocad program about a month ago and seen I started designing this about 8 years ago, why is my wife in such a hurry to get it done, it all takes time. More pics to follow, may even try to do time lapse video of the installation.b Edited December 8, 20178 yr by Ron Dudelston tags added
February 4, 20179 yr So you built this jig just for your own use?...Geez you are so far beyond my skill-sets I'm not even smart enough to comment Keep the pictures (& videos) coming on this build...looking forward to learning a lot from this... Tell your wife you'll have it done on the 29th of February...That will give you a little buffer time...

February 5, 20179 yr I can really appreciate what you're doing. I had a friend, a boat builder and yacht yard owner who had a very expensive home built. He wanted a spiral staircase, but for what he wanted, the bids came in at over a million $$$$$. He owned a big 2 1/2 story tall building to work in, so he decided he would build his own staircase. Wish I could show photos, but unfortunately, Jim passed away a few years ago. The very wide staircase was amazing, even to the mahogany wood grain match-up at joints in the spiral handrails. Jim was well known in the community. After his passing, the town harbormaster purchased a new boat and asked the town to name the boat after him The name is the "James Corbin" Your challenge isn't for the feint at heart., but you seem to be handling it quite well. A lot of patience, planning, and craftsmanship go into it. Way out of my league. Edited February 5, 20179 yr by It Was Al B

February 6, 20179 yr seems like overkill. if you look hard enough at homey depot and lowes, they have stacks and stacks of lumber that is already bent and twisted. just need to find pieces that match your inner and outer radii.

Up here, the kids get those at a steep discount. Make great hockey sticks! John
