Good Morning Friends,

A friend came to my shop and brought an old hand saw that he bought at an auction and wanted to know what the raised part was on the front of the saw on the top section of the blade. After researching on the internet I found out what it was.

Do any of you know what it was called and what it was used for?

Good Evening Friends,

Stick as usual got the name for it and it was a "nib" and as per the Diston and Son's saw company answer was that it was not intended for a handle as some people thought but, just as Gene Howe stated, a decoration.

Thank you all for your support.
