January 2, 20179 yr Years ago, I was at my favorite lumber company in Ohio, Keim lumber. They had this burl for sale. I would love to see what it looked like inside. It would take a huge lathe to turn it....If you can't see the price.............$1475 Edited January 2, 20179 yr by Ron Altier price
January 2, 20179 yr More than likely that would be made into several pieces. Bowls, hollow forms etc. etc. Bad thing about a burl, it's a crud shoot and you never know what's inside. It may spectacular, it may be hollow. Steve

January 3, 20179 yr I'm guessing the stand was included???? I'd love to visit Keim Lumber but from what I've read you need trmp's checkbook to get out of there with anything. Even so, it's on my bucket list.

From what I gleaned from their web site, which is fun to navigate BTW, they don't stock much domestic hardwood. It's all exotics. And, you're right. You might could rapidly dent even Trump's bank account in there.

January 3, 20179 yr I'm betting the burl has been on display for a ling time, and will likely be there for some time.
January 3, 20179 yr I would say the price is probably reasonable. Pieces like that don't come along very often. For the right talented turner there is thousands of dollars of potential there. Someone like Mike Mahoney could get several nested sets out of that and he gets a pretty penny for those. Nested bowls set Steve
