Tissue Boxes phase 2

Featured Replies

I mounted mine on a piece of plywood as the instructions suggested. I've used it for lettering in signs using a Porter Cable 690 router. Somewhat awkward, but it does work.

Maybe I should do a thread on the pantograph.

Ugh, yeah...can't just leave us hanging man.;) I've got not one but two of the Craftsman version...bought 1st one 40+ years ago...never used it; a lot of life happened...bought another at a yard sale a couple years ago, new in box for I think $5 or less...may get a round-to-it one of these days...

BTW...these boxes are fantastic...plus no worry about connecting you to the upper west power grid either.

Your creativity is endless...reading your project threads are better than any magazine subscription and so far they are free...:D Thanks Herb for your inspiration.

FWIW, I notice the https://woodgears.ca/pantograph/build.html site has the full monty, including an option for a dremel mount.  I did some name carving a month or so back, and found the dremel a very handy tool for it.  [brings back memories:  3 days into the Army, basic training, BTN SGM grabs me (with PS's help) and sits me down to do some drafting, using a pantograph and Leroy lettering set.  I skipped soooo many dirty details in that first week, did a nice lettering job for the SGM, could do no wrong for the rest of basic.  ah, memories.  the few that remain!]

The router is the little Rocky from MCLS, and the bit is the 15 deg. solid carbide sign cutting bit, They run around $15.

I saw the router listed for $30. on one of the forums recently branded as a Performax, I paid 69 for mine. It came with a fixed base and I bought a plunge base later. It seems as a Makita clone,my Makita fits the plunge base perfectly, and the Rocky looks identical to the Makita.

I can use the Dremel in the pantograph too, it has to have collars which I have to make it fit.

Great job !!

I like your pantograph. I also have the Craftsman pantograph also but really haven't gotten into using it.

I tried it one time but didn't really have it set up right to use it. I think?

What router do you use with yours? Do you use a plunge router ?
