December 23, 20169 yr Popular Post Here is the second batch of tissue boxes for presents. Last spring I acquired a Mathias Wandel pantograph. ,and have been teying to get proficient enough to make a project. This then is the first try at a finished project. These are done freehand off a pattern. The pantograph is set at 50%smaller than the pattern. Here are the pictures. Herb
December 23, 20169 yr Nice work and very interesting pantograph. Like Stick says can we see more about it.

December 23, 20169 yr Wonderful job. Are you going to try some inlay into those patterns? There is a product we turners use called Inlace, which is an epoxy system and comes in several colors. You should give it a look.

My cousin Paul was making one for himself and I asked him to cut out 2 while he was at it, so he came over with one all made and assembled for me. He even made adapters for my dremel. What a deal .huh? Herb Maybe I should do a thread on the pantograph. Edited December 23, 20169 yr by Dadio

December 23, 20169 yr Nice! I've seen his videos of the pantograph and wondered what could be done with it. Thanks for showing your finished engravings.

December 23, 20169 yr Beautiful boxes, Herb! Love the wood on the dragonfly one. And the maple leaf.... are you shipping that to someone in CANADA? BTW, that pantograph looks MUCH safer than your electrocutional setup! John

I was thinking the same thing about the pantograph too John. not as many volts. and it only takes a couple of minutes the do a pattern and there is no mess or smell. I just posted a thread on better pics of the engravings and wood burning of all 4 side of the boxes. The wood for the dragon fly and maple leaves is spalted poplar. December 24, 20169 yr Nice boxes Herb. Looks like something my wife might appreciate. That pantograph sure makes my Craftsman version look skimpy.

I have the Craftsman too, bought it used ,never got around to using it. It is for making Larger engravings than the pattern. It came with a lot of patterns and letters. I liked this one as all my work is small and this takes up less room in my shop. Herb
December 24, 20169 yr I like the tissue boxes !!! Great job !! I like your pantograph. I also have the Craftsman pantograph also but really haven't gotten into using it. I tried it one time but didn't really have it set up right to use it. I think? What router do you use with yours? Do you use a plunge router ?
