December 16, 20169 yr comment_88059 I think that today we are seeing more and more painted furniture and cabinets than we have in the recent past. It seems that a lot of men like the look of wood but women seem to prefer the lighter colors in cabinetry and furniture. With the possible exception of dining room sets. Kitchens with oak or cherry or maple cabinets are being replaced with painted white cabinets. I tend to agree that the white cabinetry does make the available space look larger. I still prefer the look of wood . Report
December 16, 20169 yr comment_88062 Hey, I like that and a good job matching the grain at the joints across the top. I just had an offer of a set of oak legs like that with the claw feet. Gives me an idea on what to do with them.. On the subject of painted vs. wood grain, It Was Al B nailed it right on. I had to replace my kitchen cabinets with white p-lam face frames and doors year ago to please the wife. Herb Report

I will say that white is a really difficult finish to match in touch up, especially if it's been glazed. Make that nearly impossible to spot repair if it's glazed. (my perspective as a repair guy). To me, the wood top looks way too busy and discordant. I'm OK with the painted and glazed base, but that top, "my eyes, my eyes." I don't care much for the "reclaimed" or "unfinished" wood look either. If I wanted a dining table to look like it was made from barn wood, I'd have my dining room in the barn. Report

December 17, 20169 yr comment_88140 While it's not exactly my tastes, that last pic does pull everything together much better. That look seems to be popular, if you follow the "up-cycling" trend (I guess it's a real thing). Report

March 16, 20179 yr comment_102604 I am not sure about that set for a dining room ,but as a patio set, I think it looks great. In a dining room there are other things around it to consider the colors and finishes so it all blends together, especially the floor type and color. Herb Report
March 17, 20179 yr comment_102626 not sure i like the busy look. It would be great if it were covered in donuts, though. Report
March 17, 20179 yr comment_102629 I don't mind the aged look of the the total package, but I think the top should have kept the natural look Report
March 17, 20179 yr comment_102636 I can see how the the table top goes with the seat covers. But, not my cup of tea. Danl Report
March 17, 20179 yr comment_102649 Different strokes for different folks I guess. Not something I would go for. Even though I've tried to raise her better, I can see my 30-something daughter liking it. Report
March 17, 20179 yr comment_102661 I would have preferred to see it restored to its former glory. Report
