December 4, 20169 yr I was came across an old WOOD mag October 2008 and the cover featured the Splinter Car, a 200 MPH 700 HP very fast car, made from wood. In the magazine the car was not quite finished, but I dug up some images of the car and found a YouTube video on it, what amazing craftsmanship, and what a beautiful car if I may say so. But, what happens in an accident, sheesh, pin cushion? I bet they figured that out thought, you don't go into a project like this without engineering safety into it somehow.
December 4, 20169 yr What about a car fire, you would be like a hot dog that fell into the fire. Herb
December 5, 20169 yr I remember following this a few years back and if I can finds the links I'll post. I do remember that the frame and body parts were made using a thin strip basket weave and then put into a vacuum bag over a mold to get the shapes.
