November 25, 20169 yr bought a turkey slicing knife on amazon on Sat, for $39. It arrived Wed, and I realized I'd bought the wrong one. Went to return it, and found the price was suddenly up to $64. They'd only return it for the purchase price, though, and the knife worked fine on The Bird, but the pricing dance ended up today: $49.
November 25, 20169 yr Author So now I remember why I gave up Black Friday shopping. Went to Menards this morning only to find the parking lot completely full; in fact the had also filled up all the grassy areas (4 wheel drive only, since it was muddy) and a nearby pizza joint parking lot. But I pulled in as someone was leaving and that spot. Went in, only to see every register (including the returns register) with a line of people going back 100' into the store...and no carts at all. Undaunted, since I had come this far, I went back to the aluminum work platform display just as Skippy Stockboy had piled out another 1/2 dozen of them. 2 guys were busy gathering theirs from the new stock, and I rushed up to grab 2. Walking back to the checkouts I saw a good buy on a push broom and grabbed it. "Luckily" I found a line that had a mere 25 or so customers in line and stood there. 45 minutes later I walked out with my treasures. Doubt I ever do that again. When i got home, I needed to go into the nearby town for some other stuff and stopped at the Lowes there for no particular reason. No crowds, 3-4 cashiers standing waiting for someone to check out, none of the chaos that was at Menards.
November 25, 20169 yr Author I wasn't impressed with their ad, but I'm a little weird about such stuff. The lack of a crowd makes me think they didn't have much of interest. On the other and, the folks at Menards were leaving with dog beds (seems like everyone had one but me), toys, decorations and things most home improvement stores don't carry...so maybe it's their overly broad merchandise line that drew in so many people.

Something for Ma and Pa brought the crowd maybe.
