John Morris Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 So folks, what ya'll got planned for the big tryptophan laden day of all days! Let's hear it! What' ya'll goin to do over the long weekend? My family and I, we'll have a nice small Thanksgiving, not much left of our family, life has a funny way of thinning out a family over time so our Holidays are typically small, but full of happiness for sure. Myself, the misses, and our three kids will have over a couple family members and a dear friend, for our day of Thanks. We'll start cooking in the morning, eat around 3 to 4pm, then sit around and chat, and eventually folks will wonder off back home. Also, this Friday will be our traditional decorate the home day, and it will float into Saturday, we'll have lights up around the exterior of our home, my son and I will take care of that, and our girls and mama will take care of the interior of the home for Christmas cheer and decorations. This is a very special time of year folks, I wish you all the best, and I hope you have the happiness and peace you deserve. A special thought and prayer goes out to our friend GrandpaDave, we do hope he is doing ok considering their circumstances, that all has to be rough especially for it all to happen during this time of the year. Thanks for being here, and please tell us what you have going on in your life over the next few days!
HandyDan Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 My brother and his wife and I are going to the banquet hall at the Holiday Inn for dinner. They put out quite a spread. No muss no fuss, go eat a great meal and veg out on the couch the rest of the day. May put the tree up and decorate it. Hit the shop the rest of the weekend.

Sounds like a wonderful plan Dan. Very appealing to me! Nice!

Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 With my wife's handicap, I do the cooking here at the house and we usually have some of the kids and grandkids stop in. I keep thinking about going out, but the better 1/2 is kinda stuck on this traditional thing. It's so much work that I'll spend Friday recovering. Still an enjoyable time, tho and one of my favorite holidays. Speaking of that, Happy Thanksgiving to all; hope everyone has something to be thankful for. I know I do, and i certainly will keep the families of those who have faced recent tragedies (the school bus thing in Chattanoga comes to mind, along with a couple of peace officer shootings) in mind as we give thanks.

Gene Howe Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Wife's sister and her daughter will host the meal this year. One of our sons and wife will be with us. The other son has to work Friday so that family won't make the trip. It's usually an all day celebration. So, nothing else gets done. We don't even think about decorating for Christmas until the 15th of December. Then, it all comes down on the 28th.
kmealy Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 For all those who will travel or having friends & family travel, "Hey, let's be careful out there."
HARO50 Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 A Happy Thanksgiving to all you Americans! North of the border we get it over with early (Oct. 10 this year) so it doesn't interfere with Christmas. I think! John

Allen Worsham Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Tami's Mom will be driving out today from Yuma, AZ and will be staying until Saturday or Sunday. Tami's Brother and his wife, 3 kids and Mother-In-Law live a couple miles away and will be coming over on Thanksgiving. So Tami has been working this week to clean out all the kitchen cabinets and get rid of a bunch of stuff we no longer need to the local Goodwill store. We had 4 big boxes to pass along and now our kitchen cabinets are cleaned and in order. I have to replace a kitchen light today as well as give the tile floor in our kitchen a good scrubbing. I will also have to mow the lawn and clean up all the crud out on the patio. So this is the typical Thanksgiving for us as it pretty much the same year after year.
Charles Nicholls Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 No plans here John. Just another day really. No family to spend Thanksgiving with, without having to travel 300 or more miles. So it's just me and the supervisor Shadow.
lew Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Going to my Mom's place. The retirement village where she lives provides them with a big spread- so she doesn't have to cook. On Friday it is the annual pilgrimage to locate and sacrifice an innocent pine tree to adorn the living room for the next month- HUMBUG! Happy Thanksgiving!!
LarryS Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 We are going to the movies and eat some Turkeycorn and all with butter topping trimmings. Nothing like a bucket of Turkeycorn. Um Um Good. Then we'll go to my sons house for supper.
