November 1, 20169 yr Popular Post comment_82017 This is one of my better turnings. I had a piece of firewood from an old apple tree and saw some spalting in it. I combined some exotic wood rings in it and it came out beautiful. I am not good enough to hollow out something like this and if I was, the spalted apple would not holdup, it was pithy. Report
November 1, 20169 yr comment_82022 Ron, that is absolutely beautiful. It looks to my first sight as palm trees hanging over water reflecting the image. Outstanding piece. Spalted apple gives the most interesting effects. Good picture too. Herb Edited November 1, 20169 yr by Dadio Report
November 1, 20169 yr comment_82048 Very nice Ron. As it happens I did a similar piece out of spalted sycamore. Similar in shape as I didn't add the exotics which really add to your piece. For mine I just drilled a hole down through the center and the wife sometimes puts dried flowers in it. Steve Report
November 1, 20169 yr comment_82057 That's gorgeous! Are the dark rings burned or are they thin pieces of black wood? Report
