Band Saw Blade Guide System (looking for references)

Featured Replies

I am looking for a set of guides that would be an upgrade from what I have now, which is just the stock roller guides for my Grizz 14" Ultimate Bandsaw. I have folks say they love the freeze blocks, and then there are some nice bearing guides too.

My saw is this one at http://www.grizzly.com/products/The-Ultimate-14-Bandsaw/G0555?utm_campaign=zPage

A 14" with riser block.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a new guide set?

Thanks!

the two Lagunas  are stock and everybody else are the Carters..

no complaints...

I guess I should also add to my original topic, why do you like what you have, what did you pay, and where did you get them. Thanks for any help folks! I'll even take a "my buddy has ACME and they said xxxxxx"

Carter guides on both my machines. Fantastic improvement.

They came from Carter. IIRC, they were around $160.

Carters seem to have a big following in the after market world. They can be pricey. Fortunately for my saw they are in the 160 range. Seen then for other saws in the 300's.

Thanks Stick.

yur welcome...

the carters I got were a very long time ago... as in a ways back...

no issues and they sure do keep the blade tracking nicely...

At some risk I offer as follows------ first and foremost success is determined by using a top end "sharp" blade followed up by careful determination of blade lead. After that cool blocks or similar guide blocks have worked well for me. Even new blades work better if sharpened prior to first use. The sharpening procedure is well covered in a video that can be accessed on google or utube. Just saying.

Thanks for the YouTube sharpening tip, Marv.

Risk? No risk! Thanks for the great advice Marv, I have always been intrigued by the cool blocks. Thanks!
