    John we pay the foxes to hang around to take the place of the rattlers. We keep dried cat food up on a metal legged saw horse, to keep the skunks from joining in, and in return the foxes does a good job with the rats and mice. We keep a light hanging over the food to watch the traffic at night. Very entertaining.

      Can't explain the presents of the rattler. Been here going on 17 years and was the first we have seen on what they call an island.

       The yearly Sweetwater Rattle Snake Roundup is down the road an hour and half from us so yes this country has its share of the critters.. Google it. Those people are crazy!!
