Ya, I Just Did That

I am glad I am in good company, so we are all human after all!

I got one more for ya's. When I am done with my 14" bandsaw for the day, I'll release the tension on the blade, I know I don't have to do it that frequently, but I just do out of habit, I flip the lever up and tension is off, a week later I fire the thing up, and guess what happens! I got sound but the blade aint moving! Then within two seconds, I got sound and an out of control band saw blade that's slipping and sliding all over the place. I have not done it in awhile, I have gotten better at remembering that one.

I am glad I opened up this self-deprecating discussion here, looks like we can all relate to moments of open space between our ears.

John, if it weren't for fixing mistakes, I'd have nothing to do.

When I built my saw mill I made it so it cut facing from right to left. All other made saw cut the other way. So every time I buy blades I have to flip them.

About running the blade backwards to cut aluminum or other light materials--------Long ago I split for saw blades designed for those tasks-------I don't cut volumes of each but with each use there is a good feeling of satisfaction of a task well done----and very safely at that. Probably expensive at the time but satisfaction and safety have unlimited value

Some time ago, I opened a new band saw blade pack. After I got it un coiled and, installed, all the teeth were pointing up! I almost called the outfit that sent me a blade with backward teeth. Glad I didn't. :BangingHead: Although, they might have had a good chuckle. :throbbinghead:

I gave a friend a old 3 wheel Craftsman Bandsaw.  Forgot to tell him I had swapped the blade like this to cut some vinyl siding.  He calls me to tell me why it didn't cut wood well and did I not know how to install a bandsaw blade.

Yeah we had a good laugh when I explained my madness.:throbbinghead:
