October 6, 20169 yr After I made the band saw fence I thought I should make an easier way to keep it in place instead of using a welding clamp. After thinking it over for a while I came up with this. I found a couple pieces of UHMW I had come across and saved. To my delight they fit perfectly into the square aluminum tube. I drilled and threaded a couple holes in a 3/4 inch steel rod. One hole for the lock screw and one hole for a lock bolt to hold on the table edge. I drilled a hole in the center of the two blocks for the rod at the wood lathe and cut a dado in the two blocks at the table saw for the locking screw. I then had to cut a slot in the fence to accommodate the lock rod. I did that at the table saw. I found a short piece of Purple Heart and sized it to fit the front of the tube. I locked two nuts on the all thread for the inside edge of the block and a nut and a knob locked together on the outside set to let the knob and all thread spin freely. Inserted the black sliding block assemble, turned the knob to get the thread started and all worked well. I am thinking I might yet weld a tab to the lock bolt head for a little extra purchase on the table edge. Edited November 25, 20178 yr by Ron Dudelston tags added
October 6, 20169 yr SWEET!...and the patent # is ???? Now add a riser to it with some T-track to hold/rip logs with and you're set for flat or spinning work. You need to submit this somewhere Dan for $$ & prizes. Love your ingenuity and skills! Here's one site you might consider...Home Made Tools

I put the fence on the outside when possible. Feels like I can get my arm up and out of the way faster than if it was under the wheel if the necessity arose. Tomato-tomoto I make my own decisions.

October 17, 20169 yr But you see I am left handed. And If I come visiting you need everything set up for me......This way if you got friends there I won't have to chew you out in front of them. Chips, if a person is going to use a fence then he needs to buy or make a two way fence as Dan did for not all bandsaws have a two way fence. Mine is an old timey model and can be used only from one side.
October 17, 20169 yr Patch, I understand that, but Dan said "my saw cuts on either side of the blade" He didn't say he put the fence on either side of the blade, that is what I was ribbing him about.
October 17, 20169 yr Author My fence will go on either side of the blade. I am left handed too but sometimes I do things right handed. Mixed up I guess you would say or ambi------ that other word I can never spell means uses both hands.

October 18, 20169 yr Could the word you were looking for be albino ? cause all albino's cut with the side of the blade. That's what their mommy's taught them..
October 18, 20169 yr Mine is a bit cheap... Just three pieces of scrap wood. Been using it as a saw guide, and a router guide.. That little, thin cleat is set to 90 degrees from the long arm. Originally made for a DeWalt Jobsite saw as a rip fence.... I can also c clamp it to the bandsaw's table. Just a cheap "Speed Square"....
