September 25, 20169 yr Author Dunno if I can find any more donor pieces of the quality needed to match that one. Plus, it's a Lotta work.

September 25, 20169 yr I was wondering how you got the rough sawn look from dressed lumber. Then the added patina along with the distressing, looks so authentic. Please advise how you did it. Roly

Where do you put this display? I'm just not getting it. Probably just me. It's leaning on the tree to dry. It goes in the bedroom. It has a calming effect. Nothing gets hung on it. Don't want to detract from the intrinsic beauty of the wood. 32 minutes ago, Roly said: I was wondering how you got the rough sawn look from dressed lumber. Got that with my digital calipers.
September 25, 20169 yr Author Rebuild it Keith. They're going like gang busters. Statement pieces, ya know.
September 25, 20169 yr Don't remember if I ever told this story. A few years ago, I got sent out to "fix" a Restoration Hardware table that had splinters on the top. Turns out it was a barn door from a Scottish barn, the base was plumbing pipe. Well, as you could expect, the top was quite weathered and had no finish on it. I could not do much without destroying that "wonderful patina" So I took out some Scotch-Brite and buffed the top a little. When I dusted off the swarf, my cloth was black. Lady was happy and "just loved the look." Look, the emperor has no clothes. Never understand why people are attracted to this stuff.
