My Dream Workbench

Featured Replies

I need a work bench, in the last 3 or 4 years, I have been using more and more hand tools in everything I do. And I have felt the extreme limitations in my bench, big time! I really, really, really want to build this, or something close to it.

The bench below can be seen at "Dan's Shop". It's large enough for dual purposes, hand work, and assembly. This would be ideal for my garage shop arrangement, since I have limited space, I can only have one bench.

How awesome is this?

That is massive.  What a stable place to work.

You could land a plane on that sucker Dan!

Pretty cool bench. Do you think 10 men could move it?

I like it. Lots of real estate on the top to clutter up. Oh wait, that is what I would do

Full of tools, it'd be hard!

I doubt I'd get that one down the basement steps!

Build it in your basement Lew, you'd never get it out of your basement though!

What is that piece that covers up the draws used for?

Looks like an adjustable support when you have a long piece in the vice and it slides out of the way of the drawers when not needed. Great idea and an awesome bench.

Wow, the stuff I could pile on that! smiley.gif

Pretty awesome John.  Should give you plenty of room to do anything you can dream up.

the work benches serve their purpose:  a place to work.  i have a book about Sam Maloof, and in it is a picture of his work bench:  plywood top, chewed up, beat up, stained - in other words:  used to make awesome stuff.

those tables turned out real nice:

finish curing up, and in place and in context with the new bed i also made.

I'll have to have two...one for the piles of stuff and one only half piled to work on...then I'd need your new shop Fred! :P
