It's worth a few minutes. Quite unique.

It works on this end. It's a YouTube video. Usually, it starts right away.

Try this one.

I got it...

add ss to the address after m. and before youtube while Gene's link is in your address bar..

https://m.ssyoutube.com/#/watch?v=OMg46pwSIc0

or go here and plug in the address and down load it as an MP.. http://en.savefrom.net/

adding the m.ss didn't work either...got it run by removing some script that showed in my search bar after clicking on link ..."desktop..." although it didn't run properly. Interesting though...I've got a similar book but a few years older I'll look up and scan some pics from it.

did you try out what I posted earlier...

here's the MP4 of the video...

forgotten_joinery_techniques.mp4

That is the only one worked for me.  All the others did not.

Looks like a nice joint.  Looks hard to achieve.

it isn't...

hardest part id getting the wedge the right length... it'll take a try or two...

that MP4 is loaded as an attachment and not a link....

think of it as a PDF in video...

Stick's MP4 was the only link that got me there, too.

These joints are interesting and I'm sure they probably HAD a practical use sometime in the past, but what would be the application(s) today?

Bill, I've used two. The mitered butt joint (without the dowels) for small boxes, and the wedged tenon for table and bench stretchers. I've seen the "board stretcher" joint used, on a much larger scale, by Amish barn builders and log home builders. It's probably not a joint needed in must shops, though.

Steve Newman would use a few, too. Likely, already has.

We would not get rid of it, questions like those, and titled well, is what stays in our tutorials, it's a benefit to all. Thanks Gene!
