September 6, 20169 yr I have a question about the printed labels from a Brother brand label maker - The labels are peel and stick and would there be a problem with the labels staying stuck on shellac? Thanks in advance,
September 7, 20169 yr I agree, as long as the finish is dry, you will not have a problem, not too mention the adhesive on those plastic labels is pretty good stuff it seems. At my office we have a bank of cabinets and drawers that were made back in the 70's, they have a good coat of finish on them, the original finish, and on each drawer is a label with the "Crew Number" on it. It's the same type of labels you are talking about, and they are the original labels, been on those drawers for over 40 years. Side story, you ever get a hold of those label makers, and all the sudden you have this urge to label every dang thing in sight? If it aint moving, it's getting a label, they are just too fun! Errrr, that's just me though, easily amused.

September 7, 20169 yr But that's not a bad thing. Things like labeling your tool batteries with the date you bought it, or even the wrench size needed for some of those metric nuts you access often, seems to me to make a lot of sense. Heck I even put labels under the car hood with the wrench size needed for the drain plug, along with how much oil to use when I change it. It's pretty hard to find something they won't stick too, as long as it's clean.

Dixon, Ideal and GPX are better still... work on oily surfaces.. come in wide ranges of tip sizes, oil/latex base and clean up w/ DNA.. available most anywhere... http://www.markingpendepot.com/
September 7, 20169 yr Author I have several of the paint pens also - they work really well for a lot of things - I mark the router wrenches with the router number so I know which ones go with which router; marked our game cameras with a color and the corresponding data cards with the same color so each camera had its own cards; tool boxes like you have marked; and many other uses

You have to open the drawer marked "LABELS", then search for the properly marked label, remove that label from the label drawer, and then apply the label to the appropriate location to label the contents. If you don't properly label the contents of the label drawer, then you will be hunting for the proper label.

Don't make me have ta' pull this car (errr...post) over and stop ...now get on your own sides and no more poking each other until we get home! Oh, BTW, I use paint markers to label most stuff; all cordless tool batteries are #'ed in order of purchase and purchase date along with last name, zip code and state; if storage is a container, tool box, etc. that can be re-purposed, I use blue or green painters tape, then write on that. Never had the painters tape come loose. I get my paint pens at Hobby Lobby. Edited September 8, 20169 yr by Grandpadave52
