September 3, 20169 yr Finished these up this week for the church widows banquet. There are 60 there yes count them. Dyed with Chestnut Spirit stain and ends painted with acrylic craft paint. Finish is lacquer.
September 3, 20169 yr That's a lot of ornaments. They look great. Is the three burned rings a club symbol?
September 3, 20169 yr That is incredibly clever Gerald! How cool is that! Just curious, when you thread the string through the eyelets, do you tie each on off so they don't slide up on each other?
September 3, 20169 yr Hey, now that's a simple project that I wont get in trouble for lifting too much weight, I'll have to try a few soon.
September 3, 20169 yr Looking good Gerald! Really nice attention to detail on those! Steve Edited September 3, 20169 yr by Steve Krumanaker Typo
September 3, 20169 yr Super little lites, Gerald! Do you turn the individually or create a series of them on a spindle and then cut them apart.?
September 3, 20169 yr Author I have looked for a while to incorporate my Christian beliefs into my turnings and since most are given away it creates a testimony. The three rings stand for the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, the Holy Spirit). I used to only use three grooves on bowls and came up with making a half circle with nichrome wire to use in the burning pen. These are individual Christmas ornaments. The eye is made from 24 gauge wire , wrap once around a screw driver and twist. Drill a hole in ornament and insert wire with a drop of CA. I turn these from scrap and get from 1 to 3 from a blank. Thanks for the comments. The most fun on this is working with the stain and getting different levels of color based on the wood......more on this later.
