If you look below the saw top left, it looks like your mystery tool The tool between the block and the draw knives is the typical saw vice. They are usually 12-18+ inches long jaws. The "what is it" is only 3-1/2". That tells me it was meant to hold something other than a saw. I lost the mother board in my desktop so I can't access the picture I have of my Disston saw vice. However, if you look at the 7C plane thread I started, you can see it hanging on the upper right corner of my saw till. I look at that photo and I see some tools, that I wish were in my tool box instead of hanging on the wall. John Moody and steven newman 2 Quote
