I have all kinds of calipers for measuring spindle work, normally use verniers and never stop for measuring. It IS important to blunt the sharp point on any calipers used to measure while the lathe is running. Also use an open wrench now and then. Steve
August 29, 20169 yr Author I use the calipers with the lathe running. I did take all the sharp edges off of them so they don't snag the wood. Seems safe enough for me.
