March 8, 201610 yr I got a question for the military protocol sharp folks on here. Some of you may know I am in the midst of an awards project at Veterans Awards Project. And I have a question. Many of the veterans and some still active duty, are in the reserves or the guard. I am having a real hard time finding the medallions for the guards and reserves, so would it be appropriate to install a standard Army or insert standard branch "here" on an awards plaque to be given to a reservist or guard? Here is what we are finding an abundance of, and Marines, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard are in abundance as well. You can see the lineup at http://www.awardsandgiftsrus.com/militaryawards--medallions-inserts-49-series.html I have come across Army and Marine reserves medallions, but finding all of them consistently is a problem, so I want to be consistent. Either all plaques are very accurate in the service medallion, or all the plaques will get the active branch medallion. And if I have to use the active duty medallions, again would that be appropriate for a guard or reservists? Thanks for any clarity.
March 8, 201610 yr I searched for a couple (Army reserve and National Guard) and went directly to their official web page. Both pages had a symbol/emblem at the top of the page. I would think the emblem shown there would be the "official" one.
March 8, 201610 yr Author Thanks Lew. The problem is those emblems are not available for trophies or plaques. I can get a Guard emblem. But the other associated reserve components are not available. So, I wonder if it's appropriate to give a plaque with regular service emblems to a reservists?
March 8, 201610 yr I misunderstood the question. However, I know I went to military schools with reservist. Reservists have fought in most all of our recent wars. I don't think anyone would be insulted by having a "regular" service emblem even though they were in the reserves, in my opinion. I do not know the proper etiquette for this particular application. From a Navy standpoint, reserve sailors can cuss on the same level as regular sailors- if that helps.
