I'm still waiting on the feeling to return to my thumb and first two fingers on my left hand after Carpal Tunnel surgery. So there has been no shop work for me. Don't want to run them through a saw blade and cut them and not know it since they have no feeling.

I have ordered some sandpaper packs and two additional glass disc for my WorkSharp 3000. the additional disc will allow me to already have a wider variety of grits ready to step through when sharpening chisels and plane irons. So I am hoping to be abel to do a little of that next week.

For now, I am just sitting on the deck this morning, a nice 67 degrees with a slight breeze, enjoying a cup of coffee and checking in to see what I have missed on the site.

Since I am not getting much done, I would loved, along with the others here at TPW, to see and hear about your projects. Share with us your plans for this first weekend of August and please post those pictures.

I know this is not woodworking related, but today we are taking our daughter to the American Legion where she'll give a speech about her time at the Girls State that the A.L. chose her for out of her high school nominees. She spent a week with young ladies involved in leadership around the State of California and they ran a government during that week. So today she is taking her speech to the American Legion and she'll give them a debriefing of how her time was spent at Girls State. That is the big exciting item for the day!

I know this is not woodworking related either, but the rest of the day my son and I will be building a model rocket then we are headed out to the fields to light that sucker off, I remember fondly doing the exact same thing when I was his age, I had a blast.

Woodworking related, tomorrow I'll be tearing down our beloved wooden swing set I made for the kids about 10 years back, water, sprinklers, ground rot, high sun heat, just took its toll on it. But there is plenty of wood left over that I'll be able to build a hutch for our younger girls bunny rabbit. I should just have to purchase some wire mesh and we are good to go.

67 degrees sounds awesome John, we are getting slammed with El Nino right now, 100 degrees plus and extra high humidity. Enjoy that deck!

John,

Not to rub it in but 63° here now with the lowest humidity/dew points we've had in weeks.

I'm recovering from a bit of Sun Stroke I got a couple of days ago. I just can't take it like I used to.

I admire you guys out there right now, seems to me the weather patterns are backwards! The Midwest should be having this heat and humidity, and the southwest should be having the dry heat! Been working on a freeway bridge overpass with on and off ramps construction project this entire summer in this heat and humidity, by the time I get home man that humidity has sucked the life out of me. It's a different work experience outdoors in dry heat then it is in humidity, my home is my heaven in the sense that when I enter that main door after my day, I get hit with a blast of cool AC air, I just want to cry with joy at that moment :D

Sorta the same here Larry. The humidity has been so high and the heat I haven't been out of the house much for these three weeks I have bee off. Lower humidity this weekend and I am enjoying being out this morning.

Watch the over heating. It can happen fast and it takes a lot out of you.

John, it really doesn't have to be woodworking. We just like to hear what others are doing.

Sounds like a great day! Have fun.

John,

The weather patterns may seem backwards, but I'm not complaining. ;)

If I had to do what you're doing out in the sun, I'd be getting picked up off the ground.

John,

It's kind of weird but if I'm in the shade the heat/humidity doesn't seem to bother me.

But if I'm out in the sun it doesn't take long before I feel like the grounds going to be coming up fast.

I've done it a couple times so far this year, and both times it took me a couple of days to recover. <_<

Appreciate it John, seems woodworking escapes me frequently, to my displeasure. But hey, life is grand, no complaints!

Mimi has been called in on night shift for a couple of days so she is sleeping during the day. Have to keep the noise down. I have some dovetails laid out and ready to cut on the gun case I'm making. Post some pix when I can.

Would love to see those DT's! How ya cutting them Lew, machine, and if so what kind of machine are you using?

Trying to talk someone from painting her brand new End table......Got her to thinking about a gray coloured stain.....

Boxed up the blacksmith's pole Vise,  Auction for it ends a few hours from now.   i might kust get my $5 back?   ( 11 bids so far, up to $195 + $44 S&H)   hoping the saws sell too.

Might mow the yard today, might even weed eat a bit.   Boss wants a small tree cut down, as it is trying to grow into the garage...new Sawzall for that, IF the cord will reach.

Got the final check up on the ear yesterday......100% healed up.   Still can't hear a thing out of it,  Doc also wants a hearing test done.

Well, got Minons to enter into the sweepstakes, later gators...

Hand cutting them.

No woodworking for me as we have been tied up with other things since having to cut our road trip short with Tami's Dad's passing. Tami is starting to get things going to for the new school year as she has to send out messages and information to her kid's parents this weekend and then next Thursday she will be able to get into her classroom to get things set up. Since we had to cut our trip short, we decided to take a couple of days down in San Diego and had a great time together relaxing on the coast and spending time in the museums of Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo. I am hoping to be able to get myself organized in the next couple of weeks once my wife gets back to her classroom and get my shop back in order as I have a lot of "home maintenance" to get done that has been on the back burner since the first of the year.

Here are a couple of pics from our time in San Diego. Tami and I enjoy getting dressed up and going out and have a lot of fun doing it. After all, "Happy Wife, Happy Life". :-)

Allen,

A Tux? :o

I've never been in one, and never will.

Steve,

You had better check your listing, I'm seeing $11.30 for shipping.

Allen, did you have that suit when you were here?    I spent this morning making moulding for a friend that is remodeling his daughter's house.  Pool time this afternoon and bowling this evening with the kids and grandkids.  Tomorrow is worship and then about 20 of us are going to a friends farm to shoot.  I have a brand new 9MM that is begging to be shot.

Allen,

No, it is not a tux. I wore a pair of grey dress pants, white dress shirt and a sport coat. The bow tie is a darker blue with gold accents along with a matching pocket square. I have a few bow ties in different colors/patterns and I do tie them myself so no clip-on. Tami and I do get a lot of comments when we go out dressed up. It is a lot of fun for Tami and I as she loves the 50's style dresses and going out.

Allen, did you have that suit when you were here?

------------------------------------

Nope. We did have some better clothes hung up in the truck for when we would go to church, but no suit.

Just sent the Invoice to the buyer

USPS Standard shipping   Box is 48" long, 6" wide, 4' thick.  weighs in at 40 pounds....$45.70 shipping.

Winning bid?  $197.50....I think I might have gotten my five bucks back?
