July 22, 201510 yr Well, The Smokied Up Dungeon Shop is back to work,,for now. Took one Oak plank down to the shop. Cut it in half to get two 31" long planks about 7/8" thick by 9" wide. One of the two had a bunch of nasty knots along one edge. Ripped them off. Planes to "joint an edge for glue-ups 22" long Ohio Tool Works #81. Got things clamped up Two under, one over. Didn't get all the knots Had one right in the middle. Letting this set awhile, went back up and picked out another oak plank. Needed a way to cut that one in half. laid out the cut, made sure the saw blade would miss the clamp, clamped the far end to keep things from moving around. The laid out more cut lines. Didn't like the bandsaw's straight line cutting. Clamped the plank ON the bandsaw's table. Making sure a blade would miss the table. Cut each plank into a couple 3" wide, and one 2-1/2" wide strips. With this set-up in mind. These will be corner posts. Now, even the circular saw didn't do that great a job, so time for some more planes. I clamped two "like" strips together, planed the edges till they matched, and the same width the whole length. Wide ones are now 2-15/16" or so. The narrow ones are about 2-1/2 or so. Then I dug up a pattern of sorts. I figured the bandsaw can at least do curvy cuts... Had to sand some burn marks. transfered this to a narrower strip, and cut thing out again.. So, now I have ONE corner post with it's feet done. Still have a couple more to do. Then some frame & Panel work for the sides. Boss wants an enclosed bottom with a door on the end. Top will be squared off, with a fancy routered edge. At least that is the "plan".....from the Infamous Single Brain Cell Sketch-up. Stay tuned, the "fun" has just bagun.
