steven newman Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Ah yeah, first off was a yard sale day.....drove around most of the day, finally found ONE sale with some toys..er..TOOLS. Picked up a handsaw at a great price Took it apart, sanded the wood handle, polished the brass, and de-rusted the plate, Even found a faint etch! Looks a wee bit better? Ok, "booty" from the Auction Day. Had a winning bid of $5 for a pair of planes, as in $5 total And here they are are a trip through the Rehab Center. A Stanley No. 28 is almost minty. the Stanley No. 29 to the right isn't quite, seem the lateral leverand part of the frog are missing, broken off. The 28 is 18" long, the 29 WAS 20" long, bot someone chopped a little off the front end. This cost almost the same as the two planes @$4 It was made by Winstead Tool Co., the same company the made Witherby chisels. It is almost 15" long, and had a 1" wide edge. Seems to be complete, just a minor clean up , and sharpening was needed. This little gem, cost almost $3!! It is a #12 bit, looks like a gimlet on the end. Very aggressive driller, too. So, that is what i spent all but $4 out of my 16$ allowance on. Not too bad? Quote
