Featured Replies

Well, got all I can do in the shop with this Project of Pine Boards.  So....how about a PIP?

Sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor.  Awaiting some hinges to install the door.

Looking at the backside of the cabinet, and a drawer.    Knobs match those on the doors in the kitchen

And an end view.  Have a quart of white primer ( KILZ) and a decent paint brush.   Wife was sent out to pick up a set of hinges.   IF the weather dries out later this week ( T-Storms right now) I can get a coat or two done.    She wants a clear coat on the top.

Depending on the price of the hinges, this little Island costs less than $30.   Works for me...

Really nice job Steve. You make some of the neatest projects!

I'll wait a few days, before anymore photos, but..

Door is now on, with a matching knob, no less.    Screws were go going right on through the door for the hinges.   Took door back down to the shop, and ground them flush.  The ones into the leg were ok.  Bolt for the knob was too long, made for 3/4" stock.    Ground a bit of it off, now it is just  the right length.   And, it even threaded right back on.

Lew: and you haven't started to build her's yet?

Well, door is done, complete with the magnetic latch.   Have also installed a towel bar.   First off

The door is now in place.   As for the drawers?

Might have that dovetail jig figured out.

Towel bar?   Friend suggested such, so....7/8" dowel rod.   Mitrebox saw to cut to length.  And, 45 the ends.  Scrollsaw to make the notched ends.  Jack plane to add a "flat" between the notches ( fat finger room) and a 1''x 30"  beltsander to refine and clean things up....WHEWW!   Ok, a look at the rod before it goes on

Rounded the ends a bit.  Rounded up a couple of shiny screws, and installed thenew towel bar

Tried to use a level...decided to just match the straight lines above it, instead.  $2 for the dowel rod.  Shop time?  Priceless...

Getting set to sand and primer the whole thing today.  I think the cost for the whole thing will be around $30 for supplies.   Labour?   Oh, well, just having fun in the shop...

Main thing is you're having fun. ( me too )

I still have to hand it to you, what you can make up with a pile of boards!
