Allen Worsham Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 My knee replacement surgery on my right knee went great with no problems. Thanks for all the support anx prayers. I will be here in the hospital until Wednesday.
Courtland Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Again Allen! We are gonna have to start calling you RoboAllen! Glad it all went well, so do they send you home with the knee machine bender contraption?
John Moody Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 They took mine off when I went home and did use it again. They did have a chair at rehab that would bend it. You sat in it and it would move back and bend the knee. When it came back as far as you could stand it, you stopped and it went in the other direction. It was amazing to watch the progress as I started. Take care Allen and rest while you are there. Lots of work coming when you get home.
Gene Howe Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Great to see you post that everything is good. And, ditto John's advice.
Allen Worsham Posted March 24, 2015 Author Report Posted March 24, 2015 They just came in a few minutes ago to remove the bender thing and then put my knee and leg into an imobillizer to keep it straight. They will be coming in in about 30-40 minutes to stand me up and get me moving. But so far so good. Did not have any nausea from the anaesthesia which is good.
Ron Dudelston Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Pleased to hear that your surgery and recovery are going well. Keep us up to date.
John Moody Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Improvement starts when they get you up. I was surprised with the first step. It was great. Not a big step but was way better than I expected.
Harry Brink Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Glad to hear all went well. Soon it'll all be just a memory. You'll be able to do your morning walks with no problem!
Cliff Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Great~!! Had a friend who got a hip replacement. Said it was better than the original.
Charles Nicholls Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 Glad to hear it went well Allen! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Allen Worsham Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 In my bed able to bend it myself without the machine. I still can't lift my leg straight up with t extended, but it should come soon. I will be released to go home tonight.
Allen Worsham Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 Just got the wrapping taken off so I had my wife take a pic before they put on the dressing.
John Moody Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 Looks great and I can't believe how much you were able to bend it. That is awesome. I was weeks before I got that far and lots of tears. Just goes to show those with skinny legs have no problem and those of us with huge fat legs have more problems bending it. LOL Keep the ice on it and you will be going soon.
Allen Worsham Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 Just got back from my first walk around the floor and learning how to go up and down steps. It went well, but I am wiped out now. Good thing that they make sure that I get my pain meds about 30 minutes or so before the physical therapist shows up.
Charles Nicholls Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Great to hear you are up and around (at least some) Allen.
