Cedar Green Egg Smoker Table Finished

Featured Replies

While I was off from my day job last week we were trying to finish several projects we had on the board in the shop. This was a custom Cedar Green Egg table for a Large size Green Egg that was a Wedding gift from the bride to the groom.

We sprayed it with an Marine Varnish and installed the Green Egg for them so she could surprise him when they got home.

I hear He was excited to see it all ready to use on the Deck!.

No I didn't hang around to see them when they got there.

Those are pretty cool. I remember one post where you removed the lid of a Green Egg to install it on the table (and the service call). I'm wondering (never saw a Green Egg in person) could you use an engine lift to set tham in there?

Not only are the stands highly functional, but I love the color contrast with the cedar and the Green Egg. John, are those common stands for the Green Egg? Or is this design based on customer feedback?

Fred, we found an easier way after that first service call. They weigh about 200 lbs but if we leave the shelf holders on it that come with it, the three of us can lift it over in the table easily. Before we removed the shelves first and then you had nothing to hold on to.

After a bit you learn the best ways, I'm just a bit slow sometimes.

There are a lot of them out there and the Green Egg has a huge following. There are numerous forums where they post pictures of the tables they have built for their eggs. Cedar seems to be a big choice I think just because of it being outside. I do have a request for one to be made from Walnut. It will be expensive.

I had to look at this one and was expecting something else. I was curious to see what an egg smoker looked like and how it cooked smoked eggs

You did an excellent job and that looks terrific

By the way, I bet smoked eggs would be really good :)

These ceramic smoker/grills are the craze in our area right now. Most of the people that have them swear by them and would not use a regular grill again. They are a bit expensive. As I understand them, once you get them adjusted with the air flow they will cook for hours and the heat remain the same on the grill. So you can set it to 300 degrees and it will stay at 300 degrees and it will just cook great. I also have a friend that has one and they cook pizza on it all the time.

They come in this little metal "Nest" as it is called with two cheap side shelves. So the tables are the thing right now as they give you prep area and hold the egg very nice and allow you to roll it around if you want to.
