Modern Art On The Wood Lathe

Featured Replies

I just finished a project I started years ago.  I turned a piece down so that both halves were off center from the other. One thing lead to another and I put it aside. I found it yesterday and resumed my modern art project. There is NO hand carving  done here, all lathe, router and drill. Of course sanding and finishing.

The second my daughter saw it she said "That is mine!

I wish I could show you. I started doing this about 10/12 years ago and can't remember each step. My efforts were a result of seeing what I could accomplish on the lathe. It was fun and when I finished, my thoughts were to set it aside and try something else. I did and then misplaced it. I could guess at a procedure, but I'm sure you could too and do a better job than I.

Ron, thank you so much for sharing. I love it, and how artistic it does look!

Ron, if I may make a suggestion, we are trying to be consistent with our image naming convention here on our new TPW. If you could, please read this tutorial at It's only a suggestion Ron, we greatly appreciate your work and taking the time to come aboard and share and contribute to our community! :)
