November 13, 201015 yr A new sawmill so I don't have to use my chainsaw, all of wood and finewood cd's and dvd's, a pin router and a new set of slicks!!
November 13, 201015 yr Hey Mike, For a guy who has no shop you don't want much do you? But it sure is nice to dream and think if only I had!!! When are you going to land and set up a good shop or do you not plan to build or rent one? Ralph
November 13, 201015 yr I'm working on it (Sigh). With the economy the way it is, and me switching over to another guy to work for, Ain't nothing coming easy. I just keep my eyes open and have faith it'll get better. "Sometimes just surviving is a noble fight".
November 14, 201015 yr Amen to that Mike, I remember how it was in 1980 when the bottom fell out of the bucket and you couldn't even buy a job but, we made it through. I started out in a little 8' x 10' shed repairing furniture for folks as well as refurbishing them and as time went along I grew as did my shops until now I am in a shop that is not the bigest but, now I have elbow room and am busy as the dickens. November 14, 201015 yr Yeah, I started my business about 1984. If you had a hammer, you were a carpenter, a wrench was a plumber, a mower a landscaper. i was landscaping and watched the "Fly by nighters" drop like flies. Customers started asking me to do stuff and since I knew how to do it, I said yes. The rest is history. Now I'm working for someone else, LOL but it's ok.
November 14, 201015 yr When I was framing homes in mid to late 80's, it was a running joke, a lot of the contractors out there were called matchbook contractors. On the back of matchbook covers were the 1-800 numbers to call to learn and take the contractors exam, pass or don't pay!!! Guaranteed to pass! No Experience Necessary! Pass or your money back! California turned out a lot of matchbook contractors in that time frame. dragon1 said:Yeah, I started my business about 1984.
