Mike that is a great looking rocking horse. You are right, some child will get a great gift this year. That really looks great using the tiger maple.

Great looking table also. Thanks so much for sharing those with us.

Greg that table is beautiful. Looks like it all worked out. I love the choice of chairs, they really work well with the table.

Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Finnnnnnnallllllllly finished the table! Wanted to tks all those talented people who helped me out, especially with the finishing, did go with the Wipe-On poly, had my moments, but by the 16th coat, I finally got it! Merry Christmas to you all and your families. Chairs just arrived yesterday. Cheers greg

While Ray and I worked in the shop today finishing up the mortise machine , changing bearings in one of my planers , and getting ready to start a new house on Monday , my wife is stuffing game hens with all the trimmings for several folks that are house bound and don't have family . Ray will run the dinners around this afternoon - Merry Christmas everyone !!ning-christmasdinners-51057-65.jpg

Well I got this post from Facebook today about the stool I made.

Check his stuff out online!

I guess that is a good testimony for the stool.

Wow Greg that is a fantastic looking trestle table! Were you serious about the 16 coats? The finish is gorgeous!

Just seemed like that many, kept getting swirling look with every coat I put on, so let it dry and on went another one, didn't get it fixed until I changed the wiping cloth I was using, then went with two semi gloss as the last ones to bring the high gloss look down somewhat. Really happy with the look and the final assembly.

I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of the Christmas projects.  My girls got cutting boards this time.  There were these three plus a few more that I didn't get pictures of before they went away.

ning-cuttingboard3resized-51052-69.jpgThis is the book nook project out of WOOD magazine a couple months ago.  Doing all the angles was a trick, but easier than I'd anticipated in the beginning.  They had it put down as a simple project, but they lied.  On this one I did goof a little and the front legs are about 4 inches short, but it still works.  I've got another one going right now that I'm in the process of wiping the poly finish on.ning-booknookresized-51052-67.jpgHere's some of the grandsons with one of the puppet stages.  They weren't quite sure what to do with them at first but they were figuring it out. ning-boysinpuppettheater-51052-84.jpg

Roy, you kicked it up a notch with those cutting boards. Very nice, I love the patterns and the different woods. Those angles really give it a lot of individual character. I bet they all loved those.

The book nook is awesome also. I really like the grain on the middle shelf. Looks like a sun burst. If you hadn't mentioned the mistake we would have never know. It is really nice. When you get time, give is a pip of the next one.

Nice looking group of grand kids. I bet when they finally let their imagination go they got into the puppet stages. They look like they are just churning on an idea now.

Great projects Roy and thanks so much for posting them for us to see.
