March 21, 201115 yr Nice looking drawers Ace. You did a great job on the color matching. That is very hard for me to do. I always have to get my wife to look at the color, as I am partly color blind. Nice dovetails also. Ace HoleInOne said: My Maple drawers were constructed with Maple heart and sap. So I need to bring the sap into the heart tone, see the scrap piece on the right, it's the heart wood. All all dyed up. I applied General Finishes Seal-A-Cell over the dye.  Here is a case where wood looks dark on camera, I applied the Transtint and alocohol. Scuffed with 320 foam backed sandpaper to even out the dye. Then Oiled with Seal-A-Cell.  -Ace-     John Morris said:
March 21, 201115 yr Yes sir my bald brother, don't you just feel naked sometimes when hearing these stories? Bob Kloes said: Glad to hear you are ok John. March 21, 201115 yr Mr. Moody...I knew you were messing with the BIG "E" as I was reading, I thought you got a poke fell and hit your head Glad you are doing better. Saw is looking good too.! Â -Ace-
March 21, 201115 yr John and Bob...  Thanks. The only problem I see since these drawers are guided "old" school. The drawer sides will probably come in contact, from time to time, with the drawer opening. Rubbing on the side of the case. Hence, removing some of the color. Hopefully the topcoat will help slow that down some and was thinking sticking a couple of those felt buttons along the drawer opening.  -Ace- Â
March 21, 201115 yr Unless you are opening them a lot and they stick, you should have no issues at all. When I do painted pieces and after finishing and waxing, I never have issues. Wax is your friend...bob
March 21, 201115 yr Author Ace I did some drawers some time back and ordered from lee valley some tape for drawers to slide on. I put it on the bottom and the side. I have been using them for years and they slide in and out smooth today. Ace HoleInOne said: John and Bob...  Thanks. The only problem I see since these drawers are guided "old" school. March 22, 201115 yr Author Ace, I was out of town yesterday and didn't have a chance to look up the tape I was taking about. Got online this morning and got a shot of it for you. Â This is from the Lee Valley site and you can do a search for slippery tape. I have used it several times and it works great and last. Â Â
