March 18, 201115 yr I am finishing up putting in a 220 plug so I can fire up (bad choice of words) the Unisaw this weekend. I have my shop totally destroyed trying to get this saw in, wired up and ready to work. That will be the top of the list and a little yard work as it will be in the mid 70's this weekend. So what are you working on this weekend. If it involves woodworking we want to see pictures!!
March 18, 201115 yr Hey John, I am still working on my rockers. I am trying to catch up the rocker I just started with the claro to the rocker I have been working on. Once I get one caught up with the other, I'll finish both together and put them both up for sale. Ace HoleInOne said: Oh gawd....not this thread again  Get my drawers sprayed with dye  -Ace-

March 19, 201115 yr Your darn right you, we do John! What kind of community of woodworkers would we be if we couldn't live our own woodworking dreams through others work! John Moody said: You know I have yo keep up with what everyone is working on.
March 19, 201115 yr Alright Ron! Keeping the economy strong! And cheering up a soldier. Thank you Ron.

March 19, 201115 yr And THIS weekend I'll be painting DOORS for two stores - making money is a GOOD THING.
March 20, 201115 yr My Maple drawers were constructed with Maple heart and sap. So I need to bring the sap into the heart tone, see the scrap piece on the right, it's the heart wood. All all dyed up. I applied General Finishes Seal-A-Cell over the dye.  Here is a case where wood looks dark on camera, I applied the Transtint and alocohol. Scuffed with 320 foam backed sandpaper to even out the dye. Then Oiled with Seal-A-Cell.  -Ace-     John Morris said: Hey John, I am still working on my rockers. March 20, 201115 yr Looking good ACE! I love the DT's in those drawers, great looking job and you went the extra mile staining the drawer boxes, most people would leave em natural, but I really like the extra effort put into the looks of the box itself. Excellent work my man!
March 21, 201115 yr Author Ace those are some great looking drawers and thanks for share your technique on staining and finishing them. That make for a great looking drawer. Like John I love the dovetails. Thanks for sharing
March 21, 201115 yr Author Well I finished wiring up the saw Saturday, but not before a trip to the emergency room. I had to add a 30 amp double pole breaker to the box. I couldn't get it to snap into the box so I got a step stool to get a better look. Oh yea, I have the power off to the shop. When I stepped up on the step I jammed my head into the angle iron that holds up the garage door. Â Couple of hours later and 5 staples in my the top of my head and I got it finished. Powered up the saw and got the extension table mounted and leveled. Â Now I just got to get the plywood back up on the wall. Â I had to turn my workbench around. I had used it as an out feed table with my other saw, but it was about 2" higher than the Unisaw. Â I didn't get around to building the box to cover the motor since I lost the time while at the ER. Also had to find a new home for my router table since it had been a part of the Ridgid table saw. Â So now it is just a stand alone. Â Well I get the staples out in 10 days. Top of my head is a little sore now. Go figure.
March 21, 201115 yr Jeeeeez John!!!! Sorry to hear that! Now that's putting blood and sweat in to your shop! Shop looking good, did you build that router cabinet lately?Take care John, I feel your pain all the way from So Cal!
March 21, 201115 yr Author Thanks John, On the router table, I built that to fit under the extension on my old Ridgid table saw. With the addition of the cast iron router top it was so heavy I felt like it need some support under it so that was my solution. I guess it will work just as well as a stand alone now. It also allowed me to do some dust collection on it. I got to build a fence for it now as I was using the fence with an addition from the table saw. The Dr. at the ER did comment that at least I still had all of my fingers as we were talking about woodworking. He said he has at least two a month to sew up from woodworking accidents. He did say most were from RAS or Miter saws. Â
March 21, 201115 yr Glad to hear you are ok John. As a almost bald man, I can feel your pain..... Staples just don't sound good. Glad you are doing ok. Your router table loks really nice. Where did you get the cast iron top? bob
