Finished Grandfather Clock

Here is the finished clock. The wood part was not too bad. The clock mechanism was another story. It would not run. After much trial and error, I discovered a set screw was

twice as long as it should be and was rubbing the face where the shaft for the hands went thought. The picture doesn't do the the clock color justice as the cherry finish is much more beautiful in person. I gave it to my daughter for an early Christmas gift and she loves it.

Veeeerrrrry nice Ron!

You should be proud of the work that you did on that clock.

I'll have to agree with Allen, Very nice! Good work.

Magnificent, Ron.. Black walnut? Type of finish?

That was a very nice gift Ron. Excellent work on the clock. That was a great save on your part. By the way, I love the rocking horses also. They are soooo cool!

That is absolutely gorgeous! Nice work!

Larry, the digital color was not correct. It is composed of very old Cherry and new Cherry. With the different colors and many dings, I stained it Antique Cherry and that is exactly how it came out, not the dark color that the picture shows. You can see more of the Cherry color in the second picture.

Nice work Ron. can I adopt you? :)

Ron,

something like that, clock, you can never make just one. Nice work.

I have an itch to do one too, maybe next year.  Where did you get the clock works?

Eh Ron, I only got one thing to say, OUTSTANDING!!!!!!! Great to see you in the pic as well, you look great.

Steve, Klockit had the works as an entire kit that includes all components. I got it (after 10% discount) for around $360. They have works that can go into the thousands. I choose this one because of price and that I purchased one in 1978 that is still running in my first clock. Many people don't know that these mechanical works require a yearly oiling and a cleaning every 5 years. They are difficult to set up and requires that you have a lot of patience and understanding.

Ron, that's excellent work! I like the horses, also. Made some for my kids and GKs.

Beautiful clock Ron.

WOW - that is gorgeous!  Pictures rarely do color justice - I can only imagine how beautiful it is in person because it is beautiful in the picture.
