Just an update, she put a hot dish down on it not thinking Thursday and blistered the top. So I will be sanding the top down and refinishing it some time next week.

Woops! But then on the other hand, blistered and burnt tops on an island I find nice looking, looks like it's well used and adds a ton of character, but it's probably too early on the new side to be considered character at this point. Just curious John, had the customer thought of Butchers block for the top?

No she wasn't really wanting that look. I did show her some great looking cutting boards and trivets that she could easily get to put down on the top to sit hot things on though. Grin.gif

If you have any of that Jatoba left over make her a cutting board/trivet out of it to set on the counter top so that you won't have to keep fixing the top.
