November 21, 201114 yr I am pushing hard to get this into the home before Thanksgiving. Thought I would just give you all a little update on how it is going.  This is a Kitchen Island cabinet that has raised panel doors, pull out shelves and a Brazilian cherry top. I  I got the cabinet together and put the face frames on both sides. This will sit so that both sides are visible. It will have raised panel doors on the back side, but they will not be functional.   So the doors are made and installed. I ordered hinges that were to open 100 degrees but they would only open about 85 degrees when I got them and installed them. So I had to reorder hinges and the new ones are here and have been tested and open the doors enough the shelves will pull out.  This is the bottom shelve. It has a small back to it to keep thing from tipping over the back when pulled out.  Upper shelf with a larger back again to keep things from tipping off the back when the shelf is pulled all the way out. This shelf sits lower in the cabinet as they wanted to store taller items on the top to make it easier to get them out and sit on the top when needed.  This is the Brazilian cherry top, 39" x 27". All sanded and ready to get the finish sprayed on tonight. I am spraying shellac on as a sealer and then General Finishes Enduro Var for the finish. Another view of the top. I was trying to highlight that beautiful grain patter in the center of the top.  Cabinet with primer coat and ready to be painted. This is the back side which will have an outlet at the top for appliances. The top was just sitting there and that was before it was sanded.   So I am down the home stretch now and if the finishes all dry good it should be ready to put in place Wednesday night. Cutting it close with no time to spare.  Thanks for looking.  John Moody John Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
November 21, 201114 yr John I love the way you did the top! Now if you can get the center grain to pop it will be stunning. Nice job! Ron DudelstonAbove and Beyond WoodWorks

November 22, 201114 yr Very nice John!!!! So this what you've been doing the past few weeks! Will you post some pics when its place? John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
November 22, 201114 yr Author I will post the finished pics when I deliver it. If all goes well it should be in place Wednesday night. I got the final paint on the cabinet and all parts that I could paint. I will get the other side of the rest of them tonight. I got about 4 or 5 coats of Shellac on the top and sanded between every other coat. Tonight I will get Enduro Var sprayed on the top. I put a De-humitifier in the shop last night as the humidity is so high here right now. Rain is expected all afternoon so that doesn't help either. Â Â Here is the top after the last coat of Shellac was applied last night. Â John Moody John Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com

November 24, 201114 yr John!!!!!!!!!!!!! Professionalism from the first cut!!! You did it man! And perfect timing for the customer. This is absolutely beautiful my friend, great job and congrats on the final outcome. So, how did you mount it to the floor? John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
November 24, 201114 yr Author There is a conduit coming up through the floor under the Island for an outlet that is on the back side. I drilled a hole that it would just fit through and that will keep it from moving around. I also put a couple of small blocks down to the floor inside the case. It is a tight fit so it should not move at all. Then when she gets all of the things on the shelves it will be pretty heavy. Thanks John, I am happy with it and they were thrilled. John MoodyJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
