Friday - Last one of 2011 - What's on your agenda?

Featured Replies

Well here we are, the last Friday of 2011. All year long I have been asking the question on Friday as to what was on your agenda for the weekend. This for now will be the last of those questions, although I will come up with something else.

This has been a busy year for many working in the shop or around the house. How do you plan on spending the last weekend of the year and bringing in 2012?

I have another Cedar Chest in the works and should be ready to cut the dovetails Saturday morning. If that works out, I can get the bottom in and all of it glued up and work on some tile work in the house. I have a way way over due project in the house and I would love nothing more than to finish it this weekend.

So looks like it will have a three day weekend and get the chest well on it's way and from there who knows. What are your plans for the shop this last weekend of the year? Are you getting projects ready to began a new year, finishing up some left over projects, or just taking the weekend to rest and relax and prepare for the coming year?

Jump in here and let us know, What on your Agenda this weekend!

Very good Charles. Are you making them all out of black walnut or will there be a variety of woods used? Please post them all when you have them finished.

I have a few more pens to make and a customer wants 20 Hair pins similar to this one which I made to see if that is what she really wanted for sure, and the only change she wants to make is make it a bit longer. So I willning-000-0001-36039-66.jpg?width=721This one is Black Walnut treated with wax. the hole in the top is so that the customer can attach some bead art to it.

What's on my workbench? NOTHING!

Yesterday I got everything cleared out from the craft shows and Christmas boxes and put away the left over cutting boards and oil candles and also went through and tossed some scrap plywood that had been setting around, So now I am ready to start things up next week.

Still working to get the garage/ shop re-arrange.  Did not get much done due to Christmas in Texas and Missouri. Finally got home late Thursday.  Making some progress.  Seems like when I make 1 change I got to make 2 more.  Finally call an electrician on getting an estimate.  Wife did not trust me fooling with 220 volts plus she added a few electrical needs for the house.  They says be late next week before they can come out.  Tomorrow I'll make a small table to fit under a new workbench.  It be good place for my dovetail jig to hide and be out of the way when not in use.  Got more scrapes to throw out.  Think I had dump 6 kitchen trash bags in past 2 weeks.  Hopefully get to work on getting some of my dust collection hook back up on the tools since I move 3 of the them around to make a little more elbow room.  As a whole it coming out like I was hoping but slowly.

I just finished and shipped a cherry pocket watch case.  Tomorrow I'll start 2 maple folding tables.  Next week?  Who knows?  Its been crazy busy lately.

I need someone to come help me clean mine off. It has been a while since I saw the complete top on any of my work benches.

Best of luck in the coming year.

Man I know you will be happy when you get that saw installed and running. Let us know how it runs when you get the electrical going.

Best of luck with the new job Wayne. We all need a bit of down time every now and then.

I started turning a new bowl.  I have more kitchen tool sets ready to be cut out.  Also have three more hexagon boxes to finish up.  Nothing better than projects in the works and waiting to be completed.

I hate to see this weekly post disappear.  It's fun to hear and see what others are working on. I hope you reconsider, and keep this weekly topic. Anyone else agree?

Charles,

Thanks for the post.  Let's hope John Moody sees this and reconsiders.  One of my New Year resolutions is to be more diligent about posting.  Now if I can just figure out how to do all my posting AND complete projects in a given set of hours,  I will have it made.

No I don't want to stop, just figured everyone was tired of seeing the same post. If it is the desire, I will keep asking that question. I too am always interested in the projects of others. So hang on in 2012 and we will see what others are doing. Get ready!

John,

That is wonderful news!  Another resolution of mine is to respond to forum posts in a more timely fashion.  I'm well aware that I could use some improvement in this area .  Anyone care to send me some extra time they have on their hands they won't be needing?  Grin.gif
