February 28, 201214 yr Hi Everyone, I'm glad to be a member here on The Patriot Woodworker, you're all a great group of people. When I was asked to fill this position, I felt that there are members here that are better qualified due to the level of experiance that they possess. I hope that my acceptance of this position doesn't offend them. I accepted the position due to the fact that I am retired, and have time available that some of the other members may not  due to employment and other obligations. That and the fact that I too share the appreciation of Old Woodworking Machines I've been collecting my crew of old machines for about the last fifteen years, and am finally getting around to redoing them. Some of you may allready know me from my Delta 700 Scroll Saw rebuild, and my Portable Delta Shop project. My machine rebuilds are not authentic restorations, but more of a Resto/ Mod type of rebuild. I've used parts adapted from later model machines, along with homemade parts to get the machines running again. I'm whats considered a "bottom feeder" in that the machines that I start with most people would walk away from, thinking they are to far gone to save. I take on these machines because they're cheaper to aquire, and I like the challenge of bringing them back to life. That and the fact that I have more time than money, and once they are redone they will outlast most machines made today. So I hope to be a help to those of you that might consider saving an Old Woodworking Machine for your own enjoyment, or if you're like me trying to put a shop together on a shoestring budget save a few bucks by adopting older equipment.  Larry Resident Nutcase, and OWWM forum host

And when we do you'll see why we put the time we do into these Old Woodworking Machines. It's an extension of a hobby that you allready enjoy, and will enjoy even more using the piece of history that you preserve for future woodworkers to admire. That and the Wow factor when your woodworking buddies see what you have accomplished.  A bit of a Warning though. Once you get started you won't be able to do just one, and will be looking for another!  Larry OWWM forum host Â

February 29, 201214 yr SQ said: Larry, Congratulations!  You are another great choice!  Your machines are amazing and I still want your scroll saw.  SQ Happiness is wood chips flying! Thanks Sue, After seeing Jim Johnstuns scroll saw projects I'll be putting the Old Delta 700 Scroll Saw to work real soon! First I have to get power into the shop, I tried to today but as soon as I went outside it started with a rain/snow mix. Oh Well!  I need to get heat and lighting going in there so I can get back to working on the machines. Mid 30's temperatures just aren't making it! I'll be putting the Delta 700 Scroll Saw on a stand in combination with the Delta 785 bandsaw, with the two machines back to back. I'll have to modify the scroll saw stand I have to do so. They will both use the same motor. That's if I don't mount a drillpress between them. Oh No! Here we go again! Delta had this as the 575 combination unit in the 1933 catalog using the 620 drillpress, 700 scroll saw, and 785 bandsaw all mounted on the same bench, and all ran from a single motor. I wonder if I can find a 620 laying around somewhere? Oh Well! It's nice to dream!  Larry OWWM forum host   Â
