March 13, 201214 yr Author Charles, give me a week or so buddy, I'll get some cut up!Charles Nicholls said: i'd sure be happy to get some of those pen blanks if that's what you do with them, if you don't have time to cut them into blanks, not to worry, if they fit in a box that's fine, i can cut them myself as long as they are under 12/4 thickness. March 13, 201214 yr Author Russell, this is something we need to work on. I am thinking a way of getting some of this wood into our members hands, to make things to sell to benefit TPW and the troops. Any and all ideas are welcome.Russell Brechlin said:I want to again say thanks to Tule Peak Timber, those folks show the true meaning of Patriotism and make me proud to be American. To give for the sake of helping troops, is truly noble. And I would add, that anyone getting to use any of this wood should feel privileged to be able to make some thing from it to support the troops. thanks againrussNo greater Loves than God, Family, Friends, country, the sight of flying chips and the smell of saw dust.John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project and Homes For Our Troops
March 13, 201214 yr John Morris said:Gene, how many acres ya got and how much for one!John, We bought 80 acres for $11K in '96. We then subdivided it into 3 equal parcels of 26.6. We kept one. It can't be subdivided again. Minimum is 20 acres per parcel. There are 20 acre parcels close by that are going for $15-20K. Some with a well already drilled. All with electricity to the lot line. Gotta be careful, though. "Perc" is problematic in some areas.
March 13, 201214 yr Author I am very envious of your land prices, when I retire in 15 years, we are getting the heck out of CA. Too crowded, to many laws, can't fart without the green police citing you, schools are teaching my kids opinions not facts, and I consider my state as no longer part of the union, yet a part of Mexico instead. It's a mess, not the same state I grew up in through the 70's and 80's.We might however move up to our local mountains, and close the door on the city, we are still deciding.Gene Howe said:John Morris said:Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' March 13, 201214 yr John,My wife's sister and hubby moved from Huntington Beach to Big Bear (actually, Sugar Loaf) then bought one of the 26.6 parcels and moved here for the exact same reasons you spoke of. Our RE taxes are a bit less than $700 on an assessed valuation of 180K. State sales tax is 6.6. Snowflake is predominantly a Mormon town. Good values, great work ethic and pretty good schools. Wife taught there several years. Livin' is easy. Albeit, REMOTE! Access to goods and services is a distance away. i.e Walmart is 50 miles. Hardwood is 90+.But, we're really happy here.Grab a parcel now. build later.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K.
