March 31, 201214 yr Fred & Gene Thank you!The flat ribbons are made from 1/8" X 3/4" strips of purple heart & cheery that are laminated and then sliced. The bows and curved ribbons are made from 1/8" X 3/4" purple heart & cheery and 1/16" X 3/4" maple laminated and the compound cut on the scroll saw. The pattern came from a book "The Best of Scroll Saw Magazine Creating Wooden Boxes" Published by Fox Chapel Publishing. http://www.amazon.com/Creating-Wooden-Boxes-Scroll-Saw/dp/1565234448I'll post pics later this weekend.
March 31, 201214 yr Late entry. Picked up the wood to start on my work bench and sharpening center. Time ti invade the game room. . Decided to do most of it out of #2 pine and with 4 lamination's it should be string and heavy, and this ends a 2 year analysis of design and cost. Thinking about a blog post for it. Anxious to get started don it. Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

April 2, 201214 yr Author Glad that was all it was Lew.My dad has Vertigo and had a spell this week while visiting my mom in the hospital. Had to roll him out in a wheel chair to get him in the car and take him home. I had to stay the night at their house with him so he didn't get up during the night and fall. It has kept me quite busy.Sounds like a week for Moms and hospitals. Spent last Sunday in the emergency room with my Mom. Dizzy spell, tested her for everything. Turned out to be an inner ear problem- which is good news when you think of the other possibilities.Still working on my brother-in-law's lectern. April 2, 201214 yr Author Well this afternoon I got to spend a little time at home and get some shop time in. It was nice to get in the shop and make a little saw dust and fire up the equipment. I got five edge grain cutting boards cut out and glued and in the clamps. Should be able to get them out tomorrow night and get the sanded. Weather permitting I have an outdoor craft show this coming Friday night.I'll take some pictures of the boards tomorrow night when I sand them.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com

April 2, 201214 yr Author Mike thanks so much for asking about them. They are making progress but it is going to be a slow process. Mom is wearing a body brace for the fractured disc in her lumbar. It will be two to three month before it is healed. She is still in therapy and should get to come home next week if she is strong enough.Dad is doing better also. Got the vertigo settled down and he is getting around much better now. I am thankful I have two brothers, although they don't live right here, they are fairly close and they came and took care of them this weekend to give me a bit of a break.Mike Dillen said:Thanks John. April 2, 201214 yr Thanks Charles. Man sounds like you had a busy weekend too. Charles Nicholls said: Great looking puzzle Greg and i see a lot of other projects here too that look good. I cranked out 11 hair pins this weekend and today finished the last of them. I'm happy to say that it's done. Mainly because it chewed up a lot of wood I had stockpiled from Bob Kloes and others. The client even brought some of her own wood which was the Bubinga and some Black Walnut. Now I can get on with some rest and making pens & other stuff again.
