I miss our smileys, this is where I would insert the smiley that is laying on his back laughing. Your guys are too funny!

I would be inserting a few smileys here to if I could. I'd like to find smileys that instantly convert things like :-) to a smiley, but I don't think that is possible here with the current forum software we are using. If we could do it that way, we could have our smiley's without having to worry about them loading before we can type anything.

Your welcome Joe, we'll keep hammering away at the culprits, our site has become somewhat clunky to use as of late.

Remember how the screen would JUMP a little now & then?

It was Partly due to Smileys... because a separate pass at displaying the THREAD had to be done just to display them...
(as a result of displaying them, it took a little more space to Display them... generating a Jump for every line where a smiley was present.)

Now, we should see less JUMPING as well a speed-up in loading...

I think the decision to remove them, considering how much they were really used, was a very good thing to do.

Thank you, John, for doing it.

Another thing that can make it "clunky" John, is the pictures we all so love to share, especially if the replies to a topic repeatedly load the same image. This is especially true for slower computers. While I am not advocating getting rid of using pictures, You may want to see if there is a way to eliminate the same image from loading when someone replies to a discussion that had an image in it. or even pruning discussions a bit more may help. The only problem there, is that we share a lot of great information that may be lost if we prune more than we do now.
