January 19, 201313 yr There is a blog coming on the woodworking Show complete with photos.  There sure is an advantage to going on the 1st day. A good selection and good deals. The gun show had a line of about 2000 folks waiting to get in so we didn't go there. John Moody said:We expect a roving reporter report back to TPW about the Woodworking Show and even the Gun show if you want.We need pictures.Ron Dudelston said:John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
January 19, 201313 yr Maybe a threat to ban woodworking tools would help their attendance.Ron Dudelston said:There is a blog coming on the woodworking Show complete with photos.  There sure is an advantage to going on the 1st day. A good selection and good deals. The gun show had a line of about 2000 folks waiting to get in so we didn't go there. John Moody said:John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
January 19, 201313 yr Hi John I am finishing up a small apple box that I wanted to get out of the way. Then I need to get some pens turned. That will pretty much take the entire weekend in itself, as I have about 8 or 9 pens that need to be done. Lets see some pictures of your weekend projects guys and ladies Heres the bottom part of that apple box, somehow the image didn't come clear as it normally does.. The lid is a totally separate piece so it will not be a grain match but it still looks good but isn't quite done yet. I'll post again when I get it done Have a great weekend everyone. January 19, 201313 yr Had to take it down, Gene. Â These pictures were taken after sundown and I don't have a spot light up that far.Gene Howe said:Greg, It's just STUPENDIOUSLY AWESOME!!But, where da flag go to?Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' January 20, 201313 yr thanks Lew. I'll have it finished tomorrow I think. I need to rework the bottom a bit because of some end grain tearout, but I may find that putting a coat of glue or 2 in there to even it out would be better, because the bottom is a bit thinner this time than I normally have it.Lewis Kauffman said:That apple wood looks really nice, Charles!Charles Nicholls said:

January 20, 201313 yr Lew, I would so love to be able to have even a small jig to put pieces together like this. I have a couple of people that would love to have grinders made this way. I have seen your blog post on this but I am not sure i have all the clamps or other parts needed. I'll have to go over it again and see. because even boxes or ornaments made this way are really cool and a couple of people here that have seen thse have good compliments about them and want me to make them that way. Lewis Kauffman said: Super Bowl here we come!! John Moody said: Those are going to look great Lew!! So are you getting the new LED 80" model to replace the B&W? Lewis Kauffman said: Got a start on the two grinders Mimi wanted. I promised Charles, I'd post some pix of the blanks before they were shaped and turned. This is one (pepper- walnut top) after the glue up and the corners knocked off. Both after being rounded. The waste block at the top of each for clamping in the chuck. The one chucked onto the lathe has been partially drilled and an insert added to secure the blank during the tenoning phase. Off to pick up a new TV. Old one died last week and costs half as much as a new one to repair. And to think, with just a few more payments that B&W Philco Record Player/TV/Radio combo would have been all mine!
