My son just added a storage building to his property 12x18 barn style. We are looking at skirting options and would like opinions. Seeing maybe vinyl lattice with hardware cloth attached to deter rodents as a option. Ideas and opinions?? Second project there is a need for a ramp to get Troy Built tiller and future zero turn into the building. Thinking of using stringers attached to building but two problems. 1. since the door drops below sill there will be a bump going into building. Could cut the overlap off but he plans to put A/C in so that is not gonna happen. Will this bump hinder getting these items into building? 2. I know that there must be protection for this connection to the sill. Would flashing under the door sill (metal sill) and out under the deck boards be enough? Maybe I overthink this stuff and it is not mine but get the feeling if I don't he never will. Thanks

From the album: coffee table
Live edge American cherry coffee table. Top measures 50" long and 24" wide and stands 21" tall. Danish oil and 2 coats of wipe on poly to top surface for added protection. Legs are made from the cutoffs from canting some of the logs. I try to use as much of the tree as I can for conservation and to add some interest in my work. The legs are the corner blocks for the skirt and can not be removed and , I may add a lower shelf after I talk to the person it is being made for.- 3 comments

From the album: 18th Century Connecticut Blanket Chest
The skirt was scaled and drawn up per plan, per the authors directions I band sawed the curves to about an 1/8" of the line, then I finished it up with chisels and rasps. It's really neat, the bottom edge of the curly work, has a neat chiseled effect and texture. The corners are mitered and heavily blocked behind the miter joints for reinforcement.-
