  1. So far I've got a couple of maple blanks in the works to turn out. Not sure why but I love a sharp bandsaw blade. I was able to cut out a round blank from square with out any breaks except for the entry point for the saw blade it self. That was pretty sweet. Either way this is 1 of 2 maple bowls that is in the works this one is at least off to a good start. How ever I've got a slight hole in the wall side of this bowl but I will resolve that just but cutting the top and rim down to just below the hole that I could not sand out with the disc sander. Either way off to a good start. As far as a heater I am currently looking at the Mr Heater buddy heater its small and can run off a 1 pound tank so that will be decent.
  2. So I've recently purchased a small propane heater for the winter months. It costed me $72.65 plus state tax but I also added in a bit extra for next day shipping. I did order this from the Home Depot web site. I haven't fully used this as of yet but I got a propane tank out this morning and fired it up to test it out. So far it seems okay I did check for leaks for my sake. I do have a good healthy fear of propane thanks to propane forges and how unsafe they can be with the burners. How ever this seemed like an okay one. for its rating it says its 9000 BTUS I did have it kicked off on low for a couple of minutes to run a test seemed to heat up fairly quickly. You can use a 20 pound propane tank with it how ever if you plan on doing that the recommendations I found on youtube have said TO ORDER THE MR HEATER CONNECTION HOSE. I did dive into a lot of youtube reviews on this small heater before I did buy it. But I think it should do quite nicely for the long cold winter months. I will place the link to this heater and some youtube reviews in this thread as well. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Mr-Heater-9-000-BTU-Radiant-Propane-Portable-Heater-F232000/205527178
  3. The majority of my continuous free shop time seems to happen each year in December around the holidays when it generally is COLD in Illinois. I have been tinkering for years with little or no heat this time of year while squirreling away a little cash with hopes of changing that one day. Well, This was the year. I had a propane line dug to the shop this fall and I have been working to Sheet the walls with OSB on the weekends. I blew in the wall insulation this week plus blew in the attic area as well. The heaters were used purchases for 7 bucks and 20 bucks so pretty low budget but work quite nicely. A small furnace might be better. Maybe in time but this will do for now. Not a perfect solution but head and shoulders, an improvement over a salamander and no insulation from years past. Oh...did I mention quieter too! Only 1 degree outside today and I was in my sweatshirt to work. I still have a few wall cavities to fill so feeling pretty good about things overall. I will not heat it all of the time as I am sure it is not that efficient to do so but I can get warm enough to glue when need be. The grain bin shop definitely got better this week! Still a mess of course but that has improved this week as well with new quick rough saw till today, some additional shelving, 5 additional lights, and the purge of many unused items. I will probably be selling spare tools shortly as well to help with clutter. It’s been a good week or two here. Sharing a few pictures and my excitement.
