opened Lap desk



A look inside, showing off the curly grain on the lid. Dividers seperate the inside. Back area can be for books. There are spaces for pens/pencils in the front. Plywood bottom is Oak. Sits in 1/4"x1/4" grooves all the way around.

That would be a large knot

 

This was almost the widest plank I had, and had to add a strip to make it wide enough.  Just couldn't get around the two knots, liked the grain's swirls, so they stayed put.  Design Feature.....
