Just love it.

This is the "remainder" after I salvaged the beam end. I could cut the perimeter well enough then used a saw-zall to get that center.

I'll post the 3x4 post I saved from the pith. I've 4' left. Sectioned into 1/8" crosscuts, it would make a lovely window shade if I can make a frame for the little pieces.
